Volunteer

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of animals?

Join us as a volunteer!

To be part of our team, we ask for a commitment of at least one shift every two weeks, but feel free to come in as often as you’d like. You can choose shifts based on your availability, and our friendly team is eager to help you find the perfect role that fits your schedule.

Volunteering at our rescue is a rewarding experience that often involves hands-on cleaning and animal care, which can be physically demanding. Volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (such as bags of dog food or litter), bend, squat, perform repetitive movements, walk and stand for extended periods, and work in environments that may involve dust and strong odors.

That said, we understand everyone has different abilities, and we do have lighter-duty or alternative tasks available for those who may not be able to perform certain physical activities.

All new volunteers are required to complete 10 hours of shadowed training with experienced team members before working independently.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Individuals under 18 may volunteer only if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Criminal Record Check

As part of our volunteer screening process, all Toe Beans Animal Rescue Society volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check before beginning volunteer duties.

This is an important part of helping us maintain a safe and responsible environment for our animals, volunteers, staff, adopters, and members of the public. It is one of the standard screening measures we use when welcoming people into our rescue organization.

Why do we require a Criminal Record Check?
We take the responsibility of having volunteers represent our organization and work around animals, the public, and other volunteers seriously. A Criminal Record Check is part of our standard volunteer screening process and helps us make informed decisions when welcoming new volunteers. It is not intended to judge or automatically exclude someone based solely on their past. Any information disclosed will be handled confidentially and reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Please wait until your volunteer application has been approved before applying for your Criminal Record Check. We will provide you with everything you need to complete the process.
