FOSTER APPLICATION
Our fosters give pets a great (and sometimes redeeming, healing) experience with hooman love and socialization that prepares them for their happily furever after! Our fosters are one of the most important steps in helping a pet survive.
**Requirements for Becoming a Foster Home**
**Fenced Property:**
A foster home must have a secure fence. Dog runs are not acceptable. If the property is on acreage, there must be a securely fenced area designated for the dogs.
**Distance:**
Every foster home must be within a 45-minute driving distance of Red Deer.
**Transportation:**
Fosters must find a way to and from the shelter and vet, we don’t have enough resources to deliver.
**Adoption Days & Vet Visits:**
The foster home must be willing to transport the foster dog/cat to veterinary appointments and adoption events in Red Deer and surrounding areas.
**Living Conditions:**
Foster dogs and cats must live indoors. Our dogs and cats deserve to be loved as part of a family inside the home.
**Rental Properties:**
If you are renting, you must provide written permission from your landlord prior to fostering an animal.
**Vaccinations:**
All animals in the potential foster home must be fully vaccinated and up to date on all vaccinations, including rabies.
**Allergies:**
Be mindful of any allergies that individuals in the home may have. If anyone has allergies, we will not place a dog/cat in that home.
**Quarantine Period:**
Upon the animal's arrival in the foster home, a mandatory two-week quarantine period will start. During this time, the animal should have limited contact with other animals inside the home. This measure is essential for health reasons.
